Visitor registration on arrival

Please register your arrival with the Campus security reception at the Campus South entrance. This is located on the left before the security barriers and the gatehouse. Security staff will have details of all appointments with external visitors. You will be provided with a temporary visitor’s pass for the duration of your visit. Please return this to your host or at a reception desk inside any of the Campus buildings before you leave.

Car Park

• Parking is free for all users.

• The car park is A for day visitors and Mulberry for residential guests.

• All parking spaces are provided on a first come first served basis.

Car parking

Hinxton Hall Conference Centre is currently able to offer a maximum of 150 car parking spaces to guests/delegates. We strongly recommend that you register your need for car parking space with us.

You can make use of the Campus minibus shuttle (by prior arrangement) from Whittlesford Parkway train station which is located only 10 minutes from Hinxton Hall Conference Centre. This bus can accommodate a maximum of 25 people and is also used by Campus staff. Whittlesford Parkway provides services to Cambridge and London Liverpool street.

Wi-fi

There is free Wi-Fi internet access across Campus. Connect to the network ‘ConferenceGuest’ and follow the instructions.

Electricity

United Kingdom operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz. For United Kingdom the associated plug type is G, which is the plug that three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern. For foreign visitors the use of power plug (travel) adapter is necessary.

You can pre-order a Supper Tray from Reception ahead of your stay (for more information please phone reception on 01223 495000).

The Bar is open for Conference Centre residents from 18.00* and serves a selection of beers, wines, soft drinks and bar snacks.

Eating off Campus

If you would like to eat locally off Campus or go for evening drinks, we recommend the Red Lion in Hinxton, which is just a few minutes walk from the Conference Centre.

Directions:

Hinxton village is sign posted outside the Conference Centre. From outside the Conference Centre Reception (facing the Hall), turn left and follow the road to the gate. Ring the intercom bell, and security will let you out. Cross straight over the road, down Hinxton High Street – you’ll see the Red Lion pub 150 meters down on your right.

Contacting reception

If you need any assistance or information regarding your stay, or in case of an emergency, please phone the Conference Centre Reception from your room on 5000. If it is the weekend or late in the evening and Reception happens to be closed, your call will be diverted to the Security Desk (ext. 6815) who will be able to assist you.

Getting there

By train

Whittlesford Parkway, Great Chesterford and Audley End are the closest railway stations to the Campus and these are all on the Cambridge-London Liverpool Street line. The journey time from London is approximately one hour.

Cambridge is the closest railway hub, it is on both the London King’s Cross and the London Liverpool Street line, and also serves trains coming from the north.

* Please note that Whittlesford and Great Chesterford stations do not have a taxi rank or telephone: use either Cambridge or Audley End stations if a taxi has not been pre-booked.

By bus

There is a small shuttle bus that runs between Whittlesford Parkway and the Campus. Since this runs on a first-come-first-served basis, interested delegates should contact the Conference Centre for more information.

By taxi

It is a good idea to pre-book a taxi when travelling to the Campus from a train station or airport.

Taxis can drop delegates off directly at the entrance to the Conference Centre.  If taxi drivers have not been to the Campus before, they should navigate to the Wellcome Genome Campus (CB10 1SA) before following signs to the Conference Centre once on site.

By car

Arriving from the south:

Leave the M11 at junction 9 (signed A11 Newmarket) and take the first exit signed A1301 towards Cambridge. From the roundabout take the first left (about 800 m). At the next small roundabout follow the signpost left for the ‘Genome Campus’.

Arriving from the north:

Leave the M11 at junction 10 (note that M11 junction 9 is restricted and only accessible from the South). Turn left at the roundabout and straight over the next roundabout. Travel a mile or so on the A505 in the direction of Saffron Walden. At the next roundabout take the third exit (signed A1301 towards Saffron Walden). Pass two turnings to Hinxton village (these go to the village only), and take a right, at the next roundabout, signposted on to the Genome Campus.

By air

London Stansted Airport is the closest airport to Campus at only 20 minutes drive.
